Tool center point speed

TCP speed is the speed of the robot tool center point, the programmed reference point at the wrist or end-of-arm tool. It helps estimate cycle time, but usable speed depends on payload, reach, path shape, acceleration, safety limits, process requirements and whether people can access the workspace.

Why it matters

Maximum TCP speed is not the same as production throughput. A cobot may need slower validated motion for welding quality, safe interaction, grip reliability or machine tending handoffs, so speed should be compared with the complete cycle and safety concept.
